We are sure most of you have been following the updates on CNN, Twitter,
Facebook and local news. Our Joy In Hope team on the ground is still doing
well. They are tired and overwhelmed, but are proving every minute that
they are exactly where they are supposed to be. They are doing wonderful
things for the community they call home. What they are seeing and doing is
unbelievably taxing on their bodies and souls.
We at the Joy In Hope "headquarters" are also in the midst of extreme
busyness. Where we are saddened and shocked by the images we see on tv and
in pictures being posted, and stunned by the stories we are hearing... we
are also being completely blown away by the relief we are being able to get
to our people. We have been working literally around the clock to stay in
communication with our team in Jacmel, and coordinate aircraft and supplies
to them from multiple locations in the US and the DR. We are doing this in
a way as to not only get much needed aid to them as quickly as we can, but
also trying to establish long-term relationships with other organizations on
the ground in Haiti, the DR and US. It's amazing seeing how all of these
connections are being made, and the willingness of these people to serve
together in this way.
