OUTREACH PROJECTS
Joy In Hope performs a variety of outreach efforts in order to serve their local community. These outreaches include medical clinics, educational and nutritional programs, sports events, Vacation Bible Schools and evangelism. Check out what Joy In Hope has been doing recently!
Soccer Outreach
Cyvadier, Haiti: In April 2009 HCH, Crosspointe Youth, and Christa Jewett joined forces to put together the first Soccer Outreach of 2009. The Soccer Outreach was a huge success!! Over 125 children registered, each receiving a pair of socks, shorts, HCH t-shirt, soccer ball, and a Bible. Teresa and Dr. Ryan Price came down to lead the medical clinic once again this year. They saw over 300 patients in three days! Each day we would end the day with Pastor Placide sharing the gospel message to the community and we would feed the children attending the outreach, patients seen by Teresa and Dr. Ryan, and the spectators in the community. The last day we ended with a tournament between teams, and the winning teams received a pair of new sandals. Again it was a lot of fun. Many children made decisions accepting Christ in their hearts that week and the youth group is following up with them.

Medical Mission Team
Jacmel and Chabin, Haiti: Joy In Hope had always wanted to have our own Medical Missions week. The dream finally came true in February 2009. A team of doctors and nurses from North Carolina and Illinois came to Haiti to serve. Overall in four days at two communities, Jacmel and Chabin, the clinic saw over 2,100 people. They were able to provide free consultation and free medication to all of them. This group brought over $500,000.00 worth of donated and bought medications from the States. I was blown away what this group did. More than 1,300 people were seen just in our first two days in the Jacmel area. Doctors saw all the students in the two schools. They also de-wormed all the children, treated, loved, prayed with, danced with the students and the hundreds who came every morning. The local pastor came every morning, and shared the gospel with the hundreds waiting, while the doctors and volunteers set up the four stations: triage, wound care, pharmacy, and the consulting area. This all happened inside the Church building. We did our best to hang sheets, and barricade for minimal privacy, and took turns holding up sheets when further privacy was needed. Praise God for all He did during this week.

Raymond School Feeding Program
Raymond, Haiti: On Tuesday the 20th of January Joy In Hope, alongside the Blair Hope Foundation kicked off a feeding program for our 133 student school in the Raymond-Jacmel area. At 10:00 AM a break was given to the students so they could enjoy a meal of rice and beans, and sardines in a tomato based sauce. Nixon and Sandra along with Rosemary and Miles Blair were there to witness this happy day. Thanks to this feeding program 133 children will get a hot nutritional meal 3 times a week. After last year’s Hurricane season, there were 19 families that lost their homes in this area and so things have been especially difficult for the children and their families. After de-worming all the children, the children will benefit from the meals fed to them at the school.
Christmas Outreach
Jacmel, Haiti: Another proud moment came on Christmas Eve 2008. In Haiti all the gifts are opened on Christmas Eve, and Joy In Hope wanted to serve the community together with Nego Pierre-Louis, a friend in Haiti that helps with our outreaches. HCH decided to give the kids the option to serve. It was exciting to see that 14 of the kids eagerly accepted the task. We sat with Nego the day before going through the schedule, teaching the kids how to use the “wordless book” (an evangelism tool). So Christmas Eve early morning they all woke up, and loaded the bus to pick up Nego’s team and head to the various outreaches. Danny and the kids went to the local hospital. The children went from bed to bed and individually spoke to each patient in the hospital, sang to them, prayed with them, recited Bible verses to them, then offered them a Bible to keep. Danny Pye commented that “it was good for his soul to participate but even more watching his kids take the initiative to give back by sharing the joy of their salvation with others”.
Raymond School Christmas Gift Project
Raymond, Haiti: Joy In Hope went up to our little school in Raymond and wished the children, parents, and staff a Merry Christmas. They wished the school a year full of success. The children in turn did a little program for Joy In Hope with dances and song. The children sang a song of thanksgiving to Joy In Hope for all the help that has been given to the school and the surrounding families. Then Joy In Hope gave all the children Christmas presents. Joy In Hope was also able to give all the students, teachers, and parents a feast for them to enjoy and bring home. It was a joyous event.
